World boss: the Mirecrown Colossus

A scheduled server-wide raid in Mirewood Path. Everyone who pulls their weight shares the spoils.

2 minute read · Development preview guide

When and where

  • By default it rises every three hours on the hour, UTC: 00:00, 03:00, 06:00 … 21:00. The World boss banner always shows the real schedule and a countdown.
  • Warnings arrive 5 minutes and 1 minute before it rises. It rises in the north clearing of Mirewood Path, east of Stonebrook.
  • It is level 12; level 6 or higher is recommended. If it is not defeated within 15 minutes it sinks back into the fen and nobody receives spoils.
  • Its strikes never reach the Stonebrook road or the trailhead, but anyone standing in the clearing, gatherers included, can be hit. The clearing's own beasts rest during a rising.
  • A server restart ends a rising in progress.

Reading the fight

  • Four attacks come in an unpredictable order: Bog Fall marks squares under the people attacking it, Rootsplit Cross strikes along its lines, Mire Pulse rings around it and Antler Rake sweeps the diagonals. Step to an unmarked tile before the warning ends. No spot within reach is safe from every pattern.
  • At 35% health the crown cracks: warnings quicken and its blows grow heavier.
  • Each committed challenger strengthens it once, and only after dealing 150 damage within a minute, so the fight scales with the crowd. Class interrupts cannot stagger it.

Sharing the spoils

  • Dealing 150 damage earns experience. Reaching the threshold shown in the banner earns the full share. Keep striking within the final minute; when it falls you only need to be somewhere on Mirewood Path.
  • There is no final-blow or party priority. Experience ranges from half to a full level-step, scaled by your contribution.
  • Saved characters of level 6 or higher also receive a package: Temper Stones, often a sealed piece, and for the top three challengers a sealed piece plus a Champion Sigil. Each character can receive two packages per UTC day; after that you still earn experience.
  • Every victory adds to your field journal (the Crownbreaker honor) and companion bond. It never pays gold, is never a Champion and never appears as a Hunting Contract.

Fair play

Spoils go straight to your pack. At most three characters per connection receive packages from one rising. The world boss grants no Echo, Arc Goal progress or ASCEND contribution.
