Lantern Ladder: ranked bouts

Opt-in weekly ranked duels in Lantern Arena with cosmetic season titles.

2 minute read · Development preview guide

Start a ranked bout

  1. Reach level 12 and save your character.
  2. Enter Lantern Arena from Frostmere.
  3. Open Class paths and choose Ranked beside a nearby adventurer. If Ranked is unavailable, the reason is shown under the list.
  4. Your opponent sees a Ranked invitation with both ratings and the estimated rating change for a win, a draw and a loss before accepting.
  5. Stand on the stone court and fight. Both of you have 100 health and normalized damage.

How rating moves

Everyone starts each week at 1000. Beating a higher-rated opponent moves you further than beating a lower-rated one.

While either fighter has fewer than 10 rated bouts this week, both ratings move faster. Your gain is exactly your opponent's loss, and a draw between equal ratings changes nothing.

Fair-play limits

  • At most 3 rated bouts with the same opponent per UTC day, 8 per week, and 12 rated bouts in total per UTC day.
  • Both fighters need separate home networks, including recent connections.
  • Conceding, leaving, blocking your opponent, 5 seconds off the stone court or any disconnect counts as a loss, even a dropped connection. Ranked bouts cannot be resumed.
  • Leaving within the first 15 seconds gives the opponent nothing.
  • At time-out a lead under 20 health is a draw, and a bout with no blows is not rated.
  • A server restart cancels bouts without rating. Characters under review cannot place or earn titles.

Weeks and titles

Weeks close Monday 00:00 UTC. You are listed after 5 rated bouts against 3 different opponents.

A title needs 10 rated bouts against 5 opponents, a rating above 1000 and a rated bout in the last 3 days. Titles are awarded only when at least 8 fighters qualify, then to the top half of them, at most 20: Lantern Paragon, Lantern Vanguard, Lantern Duelist and Lantern Contender.

Your latest season title shows above your name when you are not wearing a deed title. Fighters who were offline when a week closed receive their title at their next login within 12 weeks.

What is never at stake

Ranked bouts never give or take gold, items, XP, Echo Points, contribution or ASCEND. Health is normalized to 100, and equipment and level give no advantage. Titles cannot be traded or sold.
