The Morning Bell
A small daily gift for answering Firstlight's dawn bell. Seven tolls make a peal, and a missed day never resets it.
2 minute read · Development preview guide
Ring it once a day
- Reach level 5 and save your character with a name and password.
- Spend ten minutes hunting, gathering or crafting in the UTC day. A minute counts when you land a hit on a creature, gather a resource, craft something or pick up loot. Walking, chatting, emotes, using items and practice duels do not count. Minutes from several short sessions add up until 00:00 UTC.
- When the prompt under your health says Ready, choose Ring. Nothing is granted automatically. Each character rings its own bell once per UTC day.
The seven-toll peal
- Every toll teaches a Dawn's Lesson: experience equal to a share of what your current level needs. That is 10% on tolls 1 and 2, 15% on tolls 3 and 4, 20% on tolls 5 and 6, and 25% on toll 7. Levels above 20 count as 20.
- Toll 2: 2 Dew Herb. Toll 4: 3 Dew Herb. Toll 6: 2 Dew Herb.
- Toll 7, the Seventh peal: a sealed piece near your level. Its quality is revealed when the Sealreader breaks the seal for her usual fee.
- After toll 7 a new peal begins at toll 1.
No streak to lose
Missing a day never resets your peal. Your next ring continues where you stopped. The bell window shows how many days in a row you have rung, for pride only. Display-only honors: Bell-answerer at 7 rings, Dawn Regular at 28, Keeper of the Peal at 84.
Fair play
The Morning Bell gives experience, a few herbs and a seventh-toll sealed piece. It never gives gold, ASCEND contribution or Arc Goal progress. A character under review for unusual activity cannot ring it; long play sessions alone do not count against you. Characters below level 10 share a limit of eight rings per network per UTC day.
