Field journal & research
2 minute read · Development preview guide
Open your field notes
- Open More → Field journal, or Classes → Field journal. The journal pauses movement and held attacks while you read; the shared world keeps running, so find a safe place first.
- Search by creature name. Use Recorded for creatures you have defeated, This area for local habitats, or All creatures to plan an expedition.
- Choose a creature to read its original field note, research progress, known habitats and regular material drops. Active Hunting Contracts appear on the same page.
- Choose Show route, then Walk here on the map when ready. Routes lead toward a habitat, not a guaranteed living monster. Private expedition pages point to the entrance area and show the minimum level and encounter stage.
Research tiers and honors
A credited defeat records a creature as Encountered. Ten credited defeats make it Studied; fifty make it Chronicled. The journal reads existing server-saved collection counts, including earlier progress. Class changes and signing out do not erase them.
First Ink records your first creature. Trail Reader recognizes eight visited places. Field Scholar requires ten studied creature types. Living Atlas requires twenty chronicled types. Each honor also records the matching deed in Deeds & titles, whose titles are appearance only; honors grant no combat power, currency or ASCEND contribution.
Hunting responsibly
Drop chances come from the creature catalogue. Rolls are independent; encounter bosses and Champions can have additional rules. Research does not improve drop rates.
Daily hunts are separate from the journal. Their four offers lock at your level when you accept the first hunt that day. Leveling up, abandoning a hunt or changing class does not refresh that list. UTC midnight starts a new board and expires unfinished hunts.
The map respects Gate locks. When an expedition habitat is outside your current instance, first travel to its entrance area and use the expedition controls there. An entrance marker does not bypass minimum levels, completion requirements or party rules.
